Jerron Johnson

Writer, Director, Cultivator of Hidden Know-How's

A proud graduate of the illustrious North Carolina A&T State University, Jerron Johnson is an emerging force in the world of film and storytelling, making his mark as one of Atlanta’s newest and most promising directors.

Born in Winston-Salem, NC, and raised in Lenoir, NC, Jerron earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre in 2015 before relocating to Atlanta to fully pursue his passion as a director, writer, and actor. While at A&T, he wrote, produced, and directed his first stage play, Straw Dogs, earning praise and confidence to embark on his creative journey.

His artistic influences include Spike Lee, Kenny Leon, and Tyler Perry—visionaries whose bold storytelling and groundbreaking careers continue to inspire his own. In 2014, he had the privilege of interning with True Colors Theatre Company in Atlanta for the production Same Time Next Year, starring Kenny Leon and Phylicia Rashad. Learning firsthand from Leon’s directing expertise and receiving encouragement from Rashad further solidified Jerron’s passion for storytelling.

In 2020, during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jerron founded Hidden Know How Podcast, a platform created with a group of fellow artists who simply wanted to talk about their work, their creative journeys, and the challenges they faced in the industry. What started as a casual space for artistic expression soon grew into a thought-provoking podcast, featuring compelling discussions, in-depth interviews, and explorations of art, film, and culture.

2024 marks a pivotal year in his career. With the highly anticipated short film Vial City in development—an electrifying supernatural crime thriller—Jerron is diving deeper into genre storytelling, pushing cinematic boundaries, and delivering compelling, character-driven narratives. In addition, several new short films are on the horizon, promising to showcase his distinct vision and evolving directorial style.

Beyond filmmaking, Jerron remains dedicated to giving back to his community. He envisions creating charitable events and initiatives throughout the Carolinas, serving as an inspiration to the next generation of artists and dreamers who may not have a positive role model to look up to.

As someone who believes deeply in faith, humility, and perseverance, Jerron often says, "It’ll all manifest when God is ready." He knows that hard work and divine timing are key to achieving his goals.

A firm believer that "we’re all just a kid from somewhere," Jerron embodies the power of resilience and faith, proving that no matter where you come from, anything is possible.
